Tennessee's Fallen Firefighter
Memorial Dedicated
On Friday, September 11, 2009, the long-awaited memorial to those Tennessee
firefighters lost in the line of duty was dedicated. The memorial is located
at the Tennessee Fire and Codes Academy in Bell Buckle, Tennessee.
Several hundred people attended the dedication and the Honor Guard from
the Hendersonville Fire Department was selected to present the colors.
We were humbled by this request and considered it a huge honor
to be chosen. As usual, a perfect performance was given
by the members of our Honor Guard. We couldn't be more proud
of those men who devote countless hours to such a noble cause.
A drum and bagpipe corps from the Nashville area also performed.
Numerous family members of those firefighters who lost their lives were
in attendance and each family placed a single rose by their loved one's name.
A brick memorial walkway leads to the Circle of Honor which is lined
with markers honoring Tennessee's fallen heroes.
