Hendersonville Fire Department Acquires New Fire Boat
The department was fortunate to receive from Sumner County Emergency
Management a 21 foot fire boat
that has fire suppression and dive rescue capabilities.
The boat is powered by a 175hp outboard motor
which can give us speeds up to 65 mph. It has a Loran/GPS
unit, depth finder, water temperature monitor, bottom
scanning sonar and computer aided mapping for the
water and land references. The boat also has a shallow
draft of only 1 foot which gives us the capability to gain
access to 95% of our waterways.
The boat will undergo some major modifications this
winter to provide additional capabilities to the operators.
