Captain, EMT Westly Patrick

Why did you join the Hendersonville Fire Department?
The thought of working in an office didn’t appeal to me.
I wanted to work in an exciting and physical job.
Being a fireman is a demanding job, but so very rewarding.
What do you like most about the Hendersonville Fire Department?
The feeling of accomplishment after helping a
citizen in distress. The feeling of pride I have and
the co-workers in our department are all definite
pluses in my book.
What is the most significant development in your career?
Medically I would say the AED…automatic deliberator
is the biggest development. In fire fighting it would
be the Thermal Imaging Camera. It’s capable of
seeing through smoke filled environments.
Any community activities?
I participate in many activities at Central Baptist Church
in Hendersonville. I’m also a supporter
and volunteer of the Humane Society in
Hendersonville. I worked at Camp Phoenix burn
camp last year.
What are your future plans?
I plan to continue training and teaching.
I hope to play an increasing role in the development
of the fire department in the coming years.
Tell us about your family
I want to thank all the family members of Hendersonville’s
firefighters. They spend a third of their nights
alone so that Hendersonville can be protected.
