Senior Firefighter Tim Shelton

Why did you join the Hendersonville Fire Department?

I joined the Hendersonville Fire Department because I

enjoy helping people. I volunteered for several years before

joining HFD and loved the job and thought it would be

great to make a living doing a job I love.

What do you like most about the Hendersonville Fire Department?

The Hendersonville Fire Department has always had

a great reputation. I am proud and honored to be a part

of such a great team.

What is the most significant development in your career?

Since I've worked here, our rescue tools have become lighter

weight and more powerful. I am still waiting on air conditioned

turnout gear. (ha ha)

Any community activities?

I attend church at Lakeside in Westmoreland and

I am active in the Men's Ministry Outreach.

What are your future plans?

Currently my wife and I are building a new home and are

very excited about that and I am looking forward to a

long career with the Hendersonville Fire Department.

Tell us about your family

My beautiful and supportive wife, Wendy, is a

Registered Nurse at Sumner Regional CCU and I have

a great son, Corey, that is an EMT for Sumner County EMS.

I had always heard that if you love your job, you will never have

to work. I know what that means now. I can truly say that in

13 years of service with the Hendersonville Fire Department,

I have not felt like I had to go to work a single day.
