Captain Terry Mowell

Why did you join the Hendersonville Fire Department?
I joined the Hendersonville Fire Department in June, 1984
with hopes of helping others in their time of need.
I grew up with 2 friends whose father was a firefighter.
I heard so many stories about firefighting…good and bad.
All I could think was, “what a great career, always
helping someone”!! The thing I like most about the
Hendersonville Fire Department is our growth.
What do you like most about the Hendersonville Fire Department?
When I first started, there were only 2 fire halls
and now the department is starting on its 6th hall.
This department is blessed with so many great
firemen who take pride in their work and would
go above and beyond to help the citizens of
Hendersonville as well as to take care of one another.
What is the most significant development in your career?
I can’t say enough on how proud I am to have a career
as a firefighter. This job is so rewarding and we have
such good men and women working here. The most
significant development in my career here at HFD is
when I was promoted to captain. At that time, I knew
I was truly dedicated to helping my fellow employees
to become better firefighters. I have vowed to not
only be a good firefighter, but also a good leader.
What are your future plans?
I have one son, Timothy Mowell whom I am very proud
of and who just recently got married to Brandi Taylor.
He is an electronic technician for Bellsouth and she
is a school teacher for Sumner County. My future
plans include spending more time with my family,
especially my dad who just recently retired.
I look forward to a long career with HFD and to
stay healthy and be happy while doing it.
