Captain, EMT Ray McLaughlin

Why did you join the Hendersonville Fire Department?

My dad worked a full time job and then worked to help

others.  I felt becoming a firefighter would help me to do

the same and it definitely has.

What do you like most about the Hendersonville Fire Department?

  Family first. We have our family when we come

home and we have our family at work.

What is the most significant development in your career?

  The technology of our equipment has allowed us to do our

job more efficiently and with greater safety.

Any community activities?

  I have been active in PTO at Whitten Elementary

and Knox Doss Middle Schools.  I have coached

basketball and baseball for 17 years.  I enjoy teaching CPR

and volunteering with activities in our city.

  What are your future plans?

  I would like to continue my career with the department, go fishing

and go play golf with my three sons and enjoy the rest of the time with my wife.

I have been married 24 years to my wife Denise and have

three sons, Jon, Mark and Matt.
