Firefighter Spotlight

Firefighter Mike Brown

Why did you join the Hendersonville Fire Department?
I joined the Hendersonville Fire Department for the excitement and
to be able to help people when they needed it the most.
I worked for Sumner County EMS before I was hired by HFD,
so I had a good idea what the job was all about.
What do you like most about the Hendersonville Fire Department?
I like working with the great group of people here.
They have really made my time here very enjoyable.
I like being a part of a team that deals with a wide
variety of situations.
What is the most significant development in your career?
The equipment we wear into a fire has changed significantly
even in the short time I’ve been here. The new turnout gear
and air packs have lost weight and became safer.
Any community activities?
I don’t currently have any specific community activities.
My focus at present is spending time with my son which is top priority.
What are your future plans?
I plan to work for the fire department as long as I reasonably can.
The job requires a lot from you physically and emotionally at times.
Beyond that, I’m trying to keep my eyes open for future
opportunities whether in fire, EMS or something else.
Tell us about your family
My wife’s name is Lena and I have a son, Nicholas and a dog named Abbey.
I would like to thank the people of Hendersonville for being so good to us.
