Captain, EMT Clyde Chambers

Why did you join the Hendersonville Fire Department?
I joined Hendersonville Fire Department because before this,
I worked in a factory and did not enjoy that type of work.
I had also worked various other jobs during layoffs from the factory.
A friend talked me into joining the Volunteer Ambulance Service
and I really enjoyed going to work everyday. I found that helping
others through emergency service was very rewarding.
As soon as I heard HFD was hiring, I applied and was fortunate
enough to get into this profession.
What do you like most about the Hendersonville Fire Department?
What I like most is the closeness that firefighters have.
We are like an extended family. We share the same training
and experience and know that we can truly depend on each
other in any given situation. I am proud to be a part of a
well trained and dedicated “Team”.
What is the most significant development in your career?
The technology of our equipment has allowed us to do our
job more efficiently and with greater safety.
What are your future plans?
I would like to continue my career with the department and do the
best job I can until retirement.
