Captain, EMT Chuck Swann

Why did you join the Hendersonville Fire Department?
I joined the Hendersonville Fire Department on July 15, 1985.
Growing up in church and becoming an Eagle Scout, I have always
had a passion for public service. I knew this would be an excellent
way to continue in public service.
What do you like most about the Hendersonville Fire Department?
What I like most about HFD is the fact that we are able to serve not only
our citizens, but our family and friends as well. We represent out
City well with a lot of pride.
What is the most significant development in your career?
The most significant development in my career here has been SAFETY !
With constant training, schools and new advanced equipment, we not only fight
fires and perform medical assistance, we do it more safely.
Any community activities?
Community activities include previously being involved in PTO, Boy Scouts,
Just Say No and coaching baseball. I am presently involved in
Meals on Wheels and instructing CPR and First Aid.
What are your future plans?
My future plans include continuing my education in the fire service and
eventually advancing in the fire department to other ranks or positions.
Another plan of mine is to slow down a little to enjoy my family more.
I am married with a son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, one grandson
and a granddaughter on the way.
