11th Annual Badge and Recognition Ceremony

On October 16, 2010 our department held our 11th Annual

Badge and Recognition Ceremony in the auditorium at

Hendersonville High School.

Chief Steele opened the program.

Department Chaplain Dennis Allen led the assembly in prayer.   

Hendersonville Fire Department Honor Guard posted the colors.

Volunteer Firefighter Barry Lee was honored for 30

years of service with our department.

Several individuals were recognized for 25 years of service.

The following promotions were recognized:

Division Chief Gary Parker was promoted to Deputy Chief

Gary's badge was pinned on by his wife and 2 grandsons

Captain Ray McLaughlin was promoted to Division Chief

Ray's badge was pinned on by his wife

His white helmet was presented by Chief Steele.

Senior Firefighters Jamie Cossler and Kevin Paseur

were promoted to Captain

Badges were pinned on by family members.

Firefighters Troy Bishop, Adam Hatela and Jeff Webb

were promoted to Senior Firefighter.

Chief Steele relates the history of the Leather New Yorker helmet. 

It has become a tradition in our department to present

rookie firefighters with their Yorker helmet when they

complete their probationary period and receive their badge.
