The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) is to meet the
firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated
emergency medical service organizations. Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters
and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear,
emergency vehicles, training and other resources needed to protect the public and
emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
The department was fortunate enough to receive an AFG Grant in February, 2011 totaling
$750,000 (which includes a 10% matching amount of $75,000 being contributed
by the City). These funds will be used for the purchase of a 100-Foot Platform Ladder Truck.
We are currently in the process of receiving bids for this purchase.
